Vietnam Customs authorities shall not impose fines on violations of regulations on use foreign codes, barcodes for exports

Official letter No. 3776/TCHQ-GSQL dated June 9th, 2020 of the General Department of Vietnam Customs regarding use of foreign codes, barcodes for exports
After the Ministry of Science and Technology promulgated Official letter No. 1493/BKHCN-TDC, the customs branch accepts the attachment of foreign codes, barcodes on exported goods under authorization of foreign party through evidence provided in any of these forms:

  • Written authorization
  • Letter of authorization
  • Processing contract
  • Authorization via email
  • Other internationally recognized forms of authorization

Enterprises need to print the evidence on paper and sign, append seal therein as well as take responsibility for the accuracy of the authorization.

Customs authorities shall not impose fines on administrative violations relating to the use of foreign codes, barcodes attached to exported goods. If violations are detected after customs clearance, customs authorities shall notify in writing the Directorate for Standards, Metrology and Quality in order for this agency to handle.

This Official letter replaces official letters of the General Department of Vietnam Customs guiding the use of foreign codes, barcodes on exports.
